Since his first election in 2019 as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, Don Scott has had a meteoric rise from freshman to Minority Leader by his second term. After the Democratic Party won the majority in 2023, Scott was unanimously selected by his colleagues to become the first Black Speaker of the House of Delegates in its 405 year history.

As House Speaker, Scott is Chair of the Rules Committee and also serves on the Governor’s Advisory Council on Revenue Estimates; Virginia Growth and Opportunity Board; Commemorative Commission to Honor the Contributions of the Women of Virginia; Virginia State Crime Commission; and Commission on Electric Utility Regulation.

Speaker Scott is a law partner at Breit Biniazan P.C. and serves on many bar associations, boards, and commissions, spending his time outside the courtroom giving back. He is a former Chair of the Portsmouth Economic Development Authority and former President of the Southeastern Employment and Training Association. In addition to his membership in the Eureka Club, Speaker Scott holds lifetime memberships in the NAACP, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post #993, and American Legion Post #190.

Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton

Lifetime Achievement Award

Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton will be receiving the REPRO Rising Virginia’s Lifetime Achievement Award!

Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton has been serving the people of Northern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley for over two decades as a prosecutor, attorney, advocate for abused children, and state Senator. During her five years in the Virginia State Senate, she passed more than 40 bipartisan bills, all while serving in the minority. Throughout her tenure in the General Assembly, Wexton was an unwavering champion of reproductive freedom, carrying multiple abortion rights bills. She was the original patron of the Whole Woman’s Health Act which eventually became law as the Reproductive Health Protection Act, currently making Virginia a central access point for abortion care in the south.

Now in Congress, Congresswoman Wexton has successfully worked across the aisle to deliver results to better the lives of Virginia’s children and families. She has been a leader on issues including supporting victims of abuse and domestic violence, enhancing research for childhood cancer, standing up for transgender rights, and protecting Reproductive Freedom for Americans.
