REPRO Rising Virginia's Policy Work
REPRO Rising Virginia advocates for bold, proactive legislation and policy initiatives at the state and local levels to protect and advance reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We fiercely defend against attacks on abortion rights and access and the full range of reproductive healthcare services. REPRO Rising Virginia works to empower, develop, and support vocal legislative champions for reproductive rights and freedom as well as to hold elected officials accountable for their votes and representation.
Core strategies include direct and grassroots lobbying and advocacy, community and stakeholder mobilization and education, and personal storytelling to inform lasting policy and culture change, and accountable political leadership.
Legislation
Virginia remains the only state in the South without a post-Roe abortion ban. It is critical that abortion remains legal and accessible for Virginians and those forced to travel here for abortion care.
REPRO Rising Virginia works directly with Reproductive Freedom Champions in the Virginia Legislature to write and pass proactive legislation in order to protect and expand abortion rights and access in the Commonwealth.

Legislative Rapid Response Team
We distill all the complex, often-confusing political happenings during Virginia’s General Assembly Session into short, digestible action alerts straight to your inbox. As legislation moves through committees, heads to the floor, and as elected officials prepare to vote, we’ll send you an email alert notifying you of what happened and what you can do in response. Every action alert includes a short ask and model language so you can be confident in taking action!
As a member of our Legislative Rapid Response Team, you’ll effect change on a grassroots level and ensure Reproductive Freedom is a top priority for Virginia legislators!
Testify
Our stories have the power to connect with people on a personal level and even change hearts and minds. Each year, we train advocates to tell their story by testifying before legislators for or against bills that will impact reproductive healthcare.

2023 Legislative Scorecard
How do your legislators score on Reproductive Freedom?
After each General Assembly session, we take a close look at the way all 140 Virginia legislators voted on reproductive rights, healthcare, and Reproductive Freedom related bills and score them accordingly. The scores range from A+ to F, A+ being a “Champion” and F being a “Extremist.”
Our Legislative Scorecard allows us to hold legislators accountable as well as give props to those who showed up for Reproductive Freedom.
