Alexandria,VA – REPRO Rising Virginia PAC, the political action arm of the Commonwealth’s only primary reproductive rights, policy, and advocacy organization, is proud to endorse four strong Congressional challengers in the upcoming general election on November 3, 2026: Shannon Taylor (VA-01), Tom Perriello (VA-05), Beth Macy (VA-06), and Joy Powers (VA-09).
“REPRO Rising Virginia PAC is honored to endorse four strong challengers to join the Virginia delegation in Congress. The fight to protect and expand access to birth control, abortion, and the full spectrum of reproductive healthcare at the federal level is going to get heated, but having champions like Shannon Taylor, former Rep. Tom Perriello, Beth Macy, and Joy Powers will be a big step toward progress,” said Tarina Keene, Executive Director of REPRO Rising Virginia.
“Attacks on reproductive rights and access will not stop with this one election – or with the passage of the Virginia Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom – but sending even more repro rights champions to Washington D.C. in the Virginia delegation should help Virginians feel more confident that our values and democracy will remain strong. We know they will fight to bring back federal protections to abortion that we lost when Pres. Trump’s right-wing nominated justices on the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and stripped Americans of their right to abortion.”
“Protecting patients accessing abortion care is paramount, in these post-Roe times,” said Shannon Taylor. “I was one of the first elected prosecutors across the country to vow to never prosecute a woman for choosing to have an abortion, and I stand by that promise now. I’m looking forward to working alongside REPRO Rising Virginia and other state partners to hear the stories of Virginians accessing reproductive healthcare.”
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of the REPRO Rising Virginia PAC,” said former Rep. Tom Perriello. “Areas across the 5th Congressional District are already facing steep cuts to maternal care and Virginians deserve better. Expanding access to pre- and post-natal care will be a top priority for me in Congress, working with local, state, and national groups to get this done.”
“We need to restore protections to access abortion care at the federal level,” said Beth Macy. “And beyond that, we must combat the maternal mortality crisis that exists in Southern states with abortion restrictions and outright bans. Virginians live in maternal care deserts right here in the 6th District, where I often drive past a gravel lot where women give birth by the side of the road because the nearest labor and delivery ward is over an hour away. These deserts are only continuing to grow under the current Administration’s draconian healthcare cuts. I’m grateful to REPRO Rising Virginia for their endorsement, and I look forward to fighting alongside them to make progress on our shared priorities in the next Congress.”
“I’m honored to have earned the support of REPRO Rising Virginia PAC in this election, and I will fight to restore federal protections for reproductive healthcare access and ensure that healthcare decisions remain between patients and their doctors, not politicians.” said Joy Powers.
Virginia voters are currently voting on the Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom, which is an important step to protecting our reproductive rights and freedoms here in the Commonwealth. However, those rights could be further strengthened or undermined by federal legislation, executive actions, agency decisions, and the courts. It is more important than ever to have elected officials fighting to protect and advance our rights and freedoms at every level of government and who will not capitulate.
