Alexandria, VA – Tuesday, Virginia voters sent a resounding message when they elected a huge pro-reproductive freedom majority to the House of Delegates. House Democrats flipped 13 seats, bringing their total caucus to 64 members, the largest democratic and reproductive freedom majority elected in 40-years.

It’s no coincidence that 63 of the 68 REPRO Rising Virginia PAC-endorsed candidates won their election on November 4. REPRO Rising Virginia made a six-figure investment in this election cycle with a robust field and canvass program across the Commonwealth that included embedding four organizers in four key House races, volunteer mobilization for weekend of action days, text banks, digital ads, and direct candidate contributions.

Virginia made history on Tuesday when it elected Representative Abigail Spanberger as its first-ever woman governor; Senator Ghazala Hashmi as its first Indian and Muslim woman to be elected to statewide office in the country; and former Delegate Jay Jones as the first Black man to be elected Attorney General of the Commonwealth.

“With a massive majority now in the House of Delegates, we expect to easily pass the Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom so we can send it to the voters for final approval next year,” said Tarina Keene, Executive Director of REPRO Rising Virginia. “We’re so proud of our champions, who campaigned on protecting abortion rights and reproductive freedom, and we’re grateful to have their support in the upcoming General Assembly session. This election proves that organizing works, and voters want access to basic healthcare without interference from politicians. Full stop.”
