REPRO Rising Virginia Honors Senator Jennifer Carroll Foy with the 2026 Aggie Wolf Defender of Reproductive Freedom Award

Alexandria, Va. – REPRO Rising Virginia was proud to honor Senator Jennifer Carroll Foy (D-Prince William) with the 2026 Aggie Wolf Defender of Reproductive Freedom Award at the annual REPRO Gala on Friday, June 5.  

Carroll Foy patroned two REPRO RISING Virginia priority bills in the 2026 General Assembly; the Contraceptive Equity Act and Right to Contraception Act. These pieces of legislation not only ensure the right to birth control in the Commonwealth, but also that it is accessible to as many Virginians as possible through required coverage by health insurance companies without cost sharing or co-pays, including over-the-counter options. 

After two years of vetoes by Governor Youngkin, both bills finally made it through the legislature with bipartisan support and were signed into law by Governor Spanberger. 

Senator Carroll Foy also played an integral role in securing language in the Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom that activists advocated for. This makes Virginia’s constitutional amendment one of the most expansive amendments in the country, covering birth control, fertility treatments, pre-natal care, childbirth, post-partum care, miscarriage management, and abortion.  

She has been tenacious and steadfast in her allyship, and her staunch support of reproductive health, rights, and freedom across the Commonwealth.

About the Aggie Wolf Defender of Reproductive Freedom Award: The award was presented by Drs. Steve and Andy Wolf the sons of Aggie Wolf, a reproductive rights and abortion advocate who began fighting for reproductive healthcare after seeking an illegal abortion in New York in 1959. Aggie said of the experience: “I never in my life want to see any woman go through that again. It was the most degrading, terrible experience of my life…I vowed then and there that I would do anything in my power, I’d lay my life down in the streets, whatever, to see that other women would never have to suffer such an experience, and that all women would be guaranteed the right to legal and safe abortion and family planning.” And for the next half-century she did just that, becoming a fervent advocate and activist for reproductive freedom.
