Alexandria, Va. – Today the Virginia General Assembly approved technical amendments to two major reproductive health and rights bills during the Reconvene Session when legislators accept or reject the Governor’s amendment or vetoes to bills passed during the session.
“REPRO Rising Virginia is grateful to the General Assembly for the quick passage of Governor Spanberger’s friendly amendments to the Contraceptive Equity Act (HB1181/SB361) and the Clinic Access Protection bill (SB137). In previous years, these bills were vetoed outright by Governor Youngkin. But now, we’re ecstatic that Governor Spanberger, who is a proven reproductive freedom champion, supports these bills because she knows safe and affordable healthcare is imperative to accessibility in the Commonwealth.”
Once the General Assembly passed the bills with the Governor’s amendments they become law and will go into effect on July 1.
