Alexandria, VA – Virginia voters in House District 77 and Senate District 15 in the Richmond-metro area decided once again to send reproductive freedom champions to the General Assembly, which begins next week. REPRO Rising Virginia congratulates our endorsed candidates, Senator-elect Mike Jones and Delegate-elect Charlie Schmidt, on their decisive wins in yesterday’s special elections.
“The large margins of victory for both seats in the January 6 special elections show that Virginia voters are still paying close attention and want elected officials who will fight for their reproductive rights and freedom in Richmond,” said Tarina Keene, Executive director of REPRO Rising Virginia. “Abortion access is not political for the majority of Virginians, it is basic healthcare. And in the Commonwealth, it’s a winning issue. With these victories, we are heading back to the Capitol next week for our second round to pass the Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom.”
Coming off the holiday break and despite the cold weather, the REPRO Rising Virginia organizing team knocked on more than 1,000 doors during the Get Out the Vote phase of these critical elections.
