REPRO Rising Virginia Celebrates Victories in Key Special Elections, Securing Path Forward for Reproductive Freedom
Alexandria, VA — REPRO Rising Virginia proudly announces the historic victory in both critical special elections held in Loudoun County today. These wins solidify a path forward for advancing the Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom and protecting reproductive rights in Virginia.
JJ Singh has emerged victorious in House District 26, a race that determined the balance of power in the House of Delegates. His win ensures that the Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom remains viable, and that Virginia continues its two-year journey toward enshrining reproductive rights in its Constitution.
In Senate District 32, Delegate Kannan Srinivasan—a proven abortion rights champion—secured a decisive win. With control of the Senate at stake, this victory paves the way for the constitutional amendment to move forward in 2025, ensuring Virginia stands as a bulwark for reproductive freedom.
“These victories are a testament to the power of collective action and the commitment of Virginians to safeguard reproductive freedom,” said Tarina Keene, executive director of REPRO Rising Virginia. “We thank our supporters, partners, and every voter who turned out to ensure these champions of reproductive rights were elected. The stakes have never been higher, and these wins show that Loudouners and Virginians are ready to fight for their rights.”
REPRO Rising Virginia remains committed to advancing the Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom and ensuring access to abortion, birth control, and the full range of reproductive healthcare for all Virginians. These elections are a critical step toward achieving that goal and securing a future where everyone can make decisions about their bodies free from political interference.
